The RAGNARÖK cycle
( The death of the gods )
Brief transcription of the background story written by Cristina Valquíria Aguiar
Fimbulvetr, the powerful winter that lasted three consecutive years, announced the end of times of the Earth and the Cosmos. The intense cold and endless snowfall consumed any sign of life from the land and turned the skies grey, opening the doors to the power of Chaos. The enraged “wolves” have just swallowed the Sun and Moon after a long chase. The stars fall from the sky, plunging the Earth (Midgard) and the Cosmic worlds in a frightful darkness. Loki and Fenris freed themselves from the chains that held down their destructive anger and join Garm, the wolf-dog, guardian of the Death portals, together they attack the Gods and the Universal Clock stops.
Nidhug the dragon, devitalizes Yggdrasil's roots, the Cosmic tree.
Facing the destructive invasion, Heimdal, guardian of Bifrost bridge that connects Midgard (Earth) to Asgard (Palace of the gods) sounds the horn of Giallar in order to invoke the army of immortal warriors (Einheriar) that Odin will lead at the last combat, in Vigrid. The ice giants join the militants of Chaos, under the orders of Hrym, they cross over the river that guarded Midgard from the devastating attacks of Jotunheim (he represents the habitat of the giants of the Cold).
Jormungandr, the colossal serpent that Odin threw down the ocean deep, emerges from the ocean and with its wild movements generates giant waves that flood the earth.
Brought in by those tides will come Naglfari, the boat made of the nails of the dead. On board is Loki and his hoard of the giants of Muspell's fire together with Surtr, the Lord of Fire cross Bifrost and set fire to Yggdrasil.
Their gigantic tongues of fire destroy Asgard and eliminates all plant life from the terrestrial world.
Hel, goddess of Death joins the destructive movement, all the gods succumb in this convulsion and with them all life and Humanity becomes extinct.
Finally Vidar avenges his father, Odin's death when he beats down Fenris.
Once silence and quietness prevails in the emptiness, slowly on the horizon rises the daughter of Sól (The Sun) – Sunna, she triumphantly rides the solar cart and rescues the light from the skies.
Vidar and Vali, twin brothers and fruit of the relationship between Odin and Rind (Ice giant) survive the destruction as well as Thor's lot, Magni and Modi. Balder, the sun's spirit and Hoder (he is like a nordic Caim who like wise kills the beautiful and luminous Balder) return from the world of the death and with Hoenir complete the new pantheon that will give way to the beginning of a New Celestial Order.
The Omnipresent God restaurs order after a long and deadly silence. The diluvian waters recede and leave uncovered a new terrestrial carpet, soils pregnant of fruits. Evil and misery are eradicated from Gods and Man. Happiness prevails in the new Eden created from the ashes of old worlds.
The new couple (just like Adam and Eve), Leifthrasir “desire for life” and his wife Lif “life's potencial” abandon their refuge place in Breidablik, which had been built by Balder in the land of “Morning light”, east of Jormungrund “Abundant land”, the residence of Mimir' s underworld, the wise giant and Odin's uncle.
In the resplandecent palace covered by green forests, the descendants of Askr and Embla (trees turned into human beings by Odin, Wili and Vé) awaited the call of peace and innocence.
